Visual object tracking on DSP, FPGA, SoC platforms


Description of the project offered:
The objective of the project is the development and implementation of visual object tracking methods and systems, which may find an application for robotics, human and computer interaction systems, cinematography, intelligent video analytics, automatically driven vehicles etc.
The project implies the development of new and/or improvement of existing tracking systems, which can provide high reliability and are able to operate in the real-time. Hence, we suggest to focus on the investigation of the most promising tracking and image recognition methods, such as the kernelized correlation filters (KCF) and convolution neural networks (CNN). At the same time, the specified approaches have a high computational complexity and are hardly suitable for real-time applications. Thus, we also propose to explore peculiarities of their implementations on special hardware platforms, such as the DSP, FPGA, ARM-based SoC and GPGPU of the last one.
We are ready to collaborate for investigation of the mentioned methods, and to act as subcontractors for implementation of third-party algorithmic solutions. These solutions are not limited by the object tracking only, but may also include general image processing and/or recognition on the DSP, FPGA, ARM-based SoC platforms, since we already have experience of using these platforms.
